How Did I Start Solo Traveling?

Hey Girlies and Welcome Back!

This blog is about why I started solo traveling and when I began. Solo traveling started pretty young for me in Philadelphia. By the time I was 11 years old, I started learning the Philadelphia bus system. Traveling back and forth around the city by myself. I made sure I had enough time to make it to my theatre classes and back home. Then, once I got my driving license at 17 years old, it was over haha! I was out and up and down the Tri-State area daily. Then, making my way to NYC to follow my fashion dream. Once I was comfortable enough, I would park my car at my grandmother’s and take a plane to Atlanta, Miami, and Los Angeles solo. Truly that was where it all began.

My number one advice for solo traveling is to “start at home first”. Get to know your area, learn what makes you comfortable, and then keep progressing. Take yourself out to the movies or out to brunch. Be with yourself first and enjoy that moment. Be smart about your surroundings and read my other blog about tips on solo traveling to help you with some great tips on how to be safe!

So, to continue with this topic, why do I prefer solo traveling? I mean, I honestly can’t say that solo traveling is my first option. But, I honestly don’t mind traveling internationally by myself. I was just so tired of asking people if they would like to come and what fits into their schedule. Most people in my life have children and a job that they can’t take off. Understandably, people keep saying they want to travel with you but disappear when it gets to the “money” part. Yes, solo traveling can be on the more expensive side especially when it comes to accommendations, but it’s either keep waiting for people or just go and explore!

Lastly, I would like to say that solo traveling will make you come back a changed woman. You will be so pleased with yourself, so much more comfortable and in love with yourself. The confidence of going out in the world and doing what you want is so empowering! Not only is it empowering, but it’s addictive! Continually finding that peace especially knowing you have the freedom to do whenever and whatever you want rather than waiting or rushing on your trip.

I recommend every woman to solo travel and doesn’t have to be an international trip either! Just go explore a new city that is an hour away from you or book a flight that is 13 hours away from you! Research, book then go! Live your life and “Escape the ordinary”.
