7 Tips to Help Make Your Trip To South Korea More Smoother

I was extremely fortunate to take a trip to South Korea in May 2023 and had an amazing time! I wanted to share some tips to help you, especially if you're taking a girls’ trip like I did! Here are 7 tips I know will help you if you travel to this amazing country! Enjoy 🇰🇷
Know what locations you want to visit BEFORE arriving!
We were about to plan out this trip based on how long we were staying. We knew 2 weeks was ideal to visit two major cities in Korea, so we decided on both Seoul and Busan.
Get cash BEFORE going to Korea!
We had a little difficulty getting extra cash out and only certain ATMs allowed international cards to be used. Woori Bank and IBK banks will be your best friends! Every 7/11 store had issues with either the ATM or our cards not working.
Confirm on how your VISA works!
As American citizens, we were given a 90-day Visa on-site at the Seoul Airport. Make sure to see what your country's citizens have to do to enter South Korea.
Download Apps to HELP you!
Download KakaoTalk, Airalo, Naver Map, Subway (blue app), KakaoBus, KakaoMap, Klook and Papago. Trust me, other apps that you have on your phone really won’t help you.
Your shoes were made for WALKING!
Bring your best walking shoes! You will be walking the most you will ever walk, plus the hills and steep stairs! Bring multiple sneakers!
Public transportation will be your BESTIE!
Public transportation is so cheap and very easy to navigate especially the TMoney Card. Find out more information here. You can purchase and charge these cards at any convenience store nationwide.
Get FAR distance train tickets in advance!
Get your far-distance train tickets in advance! We had to go to the station to get our tickets because our last-minute discounted tickets from Klook to get to Busan from Seoul ended up not working. So, we got “standing” tickets and had to stand the entire train ride!
