Tips For Solo Women Travelers
Hey, Girlies!!
Welcome back to my travel blog! I am pretty new to this blogging space, but I am not new to solo traveling! I wanted to create a top 10 list for solo travelers to help more women feel comfortable traveling alone. So, here we are ladies, my top 10 list! Hope this brings some reassurance to you!
In No Particular Order:
Have an Apple Air Tag or a Life 360 Tile to put on any viable items, especially luggage!
Send your itinerary to your country’s Embassy in that particular country to make them aware of your arrival and where you will be during your time. Here is the information for the U.S. Embassy called STEP.
Let your family/friends/someone you trust have your location on at all times (for example, share it on Find My iPhone).
If you are nervous, book your accommodation near the nearest Embassy or the touristy/popular areas especially if it’s your first time in that country.
Bring certain reflectors to see if there are hidden cameras in your room. My favorite is JMDHKK Hidden Camera Detectors.
Bring a portable Carbon Monoxide with you! Trust me! Kidde Carbon Monoxide Detector is my favorite!
Book your car rides with your hotel/accommodation a trusted taxi company or someone you know who recommends a certain company. The second option is a fellow traveler that you trust who has been to that location already and is fond of this company!
ALWAYS check reviews on everything you book especially on tours, hotels, etc to see what other travelers especially women say!
Download offline maps of the area you are visiting including the outside areas you will be touring in. Waze and Google Maps are usually great options but look into this BEFORE you leave because, in certain countries it’s useless. When I visited South Korea and Japan those were not the best options to use, so I found out Naver Map, KakaoMap, Subway (blue app) and Kakao T saved me!
Join Women Solo Traveling Facebook groups! I received great advice and tips!
Bonus tip: Before you travel internationally, try to solo travel in your nearby city for a weekend, then expand to other cities to get you more comfortable! Then, once you are more comfortable, dive into another country that isn’t too far from home! You got this 😊
