How To Get Travel Insurance

I want to talk to you guys about something every traveler should have that isn’t discussed often. That is travel insurance! Travel insurance is always my third option as soon as I book my flight and accommodation. No one should ever go on any type of trip without travel insurance. Things happen, flights get delayed, bags are lost and for sure there could be a medical emergency. Travel insurance covers all of that including natural disasters.
I will tell you a quick story that to this day is why I ALWAYS buy travel insurance. In April 2021, the world slowly started to open back up since COVID-19 changed our life dynamic. My friend and I decided to book an amazing deal in St. Lucia two months prior. Well, April came and we both decided we should get travel insurance just in case either of us got sick or caught COVID-19. Well, fortunately for us, we did not get Covid during this trip but we did experience a volcano right next to us by St. Vincent and the Grenadines! So, all flights were not coming in or out, so we were stuck on this beautiful but EXPENSIVE island for an additional 4 days!
So, with that, we got a discount from the hotel but still had to pay over 1k for each of us to stay including food just relaxing but stressing out at the same time! During that time, we really couldn’t do much on the island without a guide and COVID-19 was most certainly still had everyone on high alert, so we couldn’t be around the locals as much as we wanted to. So, the trip turned into a 4-day trip to an 8-day trip. In conclusion, our travel insurance covered us once we came back for the flight issue, the hotel accommodation, and down to the food. Scared of getting sick from COVID-19, we ended up being scared of a volcano that has been dormant since 1902!
